Tips to Protect Yourself from Job Scams

Tips to Protect Yourself from Job Scams

When it comes to your professional journey, staying vigilant is crucial. At Expion Health, we prioritize your safety and want to ensure you are equipped to identify and report potential job scams. Here are 4 valuable tips to keep in mind:

⓵ Verify the source: Be cautious of unsolicited emails or text messages claiming to represent a company. Remember, official communication from Expion Health will only come from an “@expionhealth.com” email address.

⓶ Watch out for red flags: Never provide financial information, commit to any payments, or download software during the hiring process. Be suspicious about requests to send sensitive information via text or email instead of secure methods. Legitimate employers like us will never request such actions.

⓷ Trust your instincts: If an interview request or job offer seems too good to be true or raises suspicions, listen to your gut feelings. Research the company thoroughly and cross-reference the information provided. Expion, like most companies, has an a through vetting process that includes interviews. We do not provide offers prior to an interview.

⓸ Report suspicious activity: If you receive a suspicious interview request or job offer, report it to the company via an official communication channel and, if you choose, to the authorities: your local attorney general, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Internet Crime Complaint Center, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). You can also report fraudulent accounts that send you job scams to LinkedIn.

LinkedIn also has information on how to recognize and report scams which can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a1336387/recognize-and-report-scams?lang=en
